Cash.

Options are great. Just ask her. I know she'll be grateful for your thoughtfulness. Kudos to you.

I should've said a paid day off.

I'd love either but if given the choice would want a paid day off. Depends how much cash you're offering but I'd most likely choose the paid day off and less cash.

Paid day off, definitely!

Paid day off - but sometime in advance so she can plan something.

I would prefer cash.

I would also prefer that I chose employers who thought to do anything for my birthday. But I didn't.

I don't understand why nannies expect a special perk for their birthdays. I don't know of any other profession who celebrates birthdays with cash or days off.

Birthdays are for children.

Birthdays are for children.

In this culture we celebrate the birthdays of both adults and children. But not all cultures do.

Did you ask her? What did she choose?

Paid day off with notice so she can plan something for herself.
