| can't figure it out. been really unsatisfied lately with my job. trying to decide if it's THIS job or nannying in general. the things that irritate me are start time changes, no food in the house, and no raise or mention of it despite passing 1 year mark over 5 months ago, in addition to minor awkwardness with db because of his complaining about paying me. other nannies - have you had jobs that simply ran their course, and you were ready to leave? what prompted you to leave an 'ok' position? |

Any employer who complained to me about paying me is reason enough to leave! I don't even have to list your other reasons.
You are in a bad situation, OP. Start looking for another job. |

I don't understand what you mean about DB complaining about paying you. That seems really messed up.
It seems like you feel underappreciated. Maybe they are just busy in their lives and taking you for granted, but it doesn't feel good to be in a position like this. It sounds like it feels like they are neglecting their side of things -- like stocking the fridge, respecting your time in the morning, etc. Maybe they are just busy? If that seems like the case, it's possible they are just overlooking these things and don't mean anything by it (even if it feels bad to you). You could sit down with them and point out some of the great things you do and how much you love the job and propose a raise, if you feel this would help you be happier there. It seems like this might be the jolt they need to notice and appreciate you. BUT... be prepared that if they say now, you may be more disatisified and uncomfortable.

This position doesn't even sound "okay" to me OP.
It is rude for a parent to complain about paying their nanny TO the nanny. And disrespectful as hell. What is he thinking? Also, time changes are annoying as well as not having enough food for the child to eat. I think none of us here would ever blame you if you left this family today. They sound cheap to me or perhaps they cannot even afford you which if that is the case, is THEIR bad...Not yours. Good luck. |
