Best time of the year to look for a part-time nanny? RSS feed

Anonymous
Our last au pair will be finishing up her year in late October and we will be transitioning to a part-time live-out nanny. For the hours we need, a nanny is much less expensive and I'm done having someone living in my house and ready to sell our extra car, etc. I am wondering if nannies are generally more available toward the end of the summer/early school year rather than in the middle of the school year? I ask because we will be looking for a nanny to start in November, and I wonder if it would be better to look for one to start in August or September? Thanks!

In case it matters (because it always does on DCUM!), I only really need 10 hours of care, but I'm going to make it a guaranteed 15 or 20 hours, at a rate of $22, it's still cheaper than an au pair.
