Daycare teacher invites my daughter to her daughters birthday. RSS feed

We love my my 3 year olds preschool teacher and she has a daughter that is I think 2 years old. I have met her a few times. She invited my child's preschool class (10 kids) to her daughters birthday party. My daughter of course wants to go but is this crossing boundary lines? I am actually quite shocked she invited us as she has always came across as being very professional until now . I don't think she has family nearby and is afraid no one will come. Thoughts?

Wow.... The teacher was being nice and including the whole class. What is wrong with you?

why is it unprofessional? It's not like she is your college age daughters 52 year old professor.

Seriously? I don't understand what you think is weird.

What does this have to do with nannies? You should post on the General Forum. I have a nanny for my child and don't know anything about daycare.

Nanny and daycare is basically the same thing. Both of them are for parents who don't have the time or desire to raise their children.

Yes, it is. Compare it to the military where officers and enlisted do not fraternize.

Nevertheless, employe and employer do not fraternize.

I see nothing unprofessional with this situation.

The childcare field is very unique in that certain bonds are formed that sometimes go beyond the workplace. This is one example of it.

I would let your daughter attend the party and not blink an eye.

If the school forbade it, I am sure she would not be doing it.

I think it is an awkward situation - you would feel bad declining - she's basically requesting gifts from all parents of children that she teaches -and she's socializing. I think people would also find it odd if she were just having a big party at her house for say memorial day (a big bbq) and invited the whole preschool class.
