Someone to drive my DD to swim practice, and then to camp? RSS feed

We are new to the world of nannies and nannying, etc. even though we have been WOHPs for 7 years now. We always used a daycare center.

But anyway, this summer, we may need to hire someone to pick up our daughter in the mornings at our home, bring her to swim practice, and then drop her off at day-camp.

Does this seem like a crap shoot? Are there folks who would do this type of thing? If so, where should I "advertise?" Any other things I should know ahead of time as to what to specify, etc.? (For example, they would need their own car as we do not have 3 cars.) We could even drop my daughter off at swim practice and then go on to work. . . .the hard part (which we cannot do and for which we have to hire someone) is to pick her up after practice and bring her to camp.

Ugh. Help? Thanks in advance.

You don't say what the hours would look like for this - that will make a big difference. If it's under 3 hours you're unlikely to find a nanny who'd be interested in doing this; a better option would be to look for a parent of another child in the swim practice who'd be willing to do some extra transportation. You'd have to pay them too, of course, but I think you're far more likely to find someone that way.

I was in a similar situation. I needed someone to drop off my daughter at camp in the mornings for 5 weeks. I did find someone, but it wasn't cheap. I found an excellent, safe and reliable drive for $30/day. That's pretty steep, but we needed the service. I would advertise in the nanny section with a header about needing a driver and you should be fine.

NP. For very part time hours and temporary care, $30 does not sound steep to me.
