Hi guys,
I'm throwing a surprise birthday party and I need some ideas. Everything needs to be purple. I already have decorations and everything else planned, except for the food. It needs to be nut/dairy/gluten free AND purple. I have cake mix and I will put purple coloring in it, purple icing and candles. Purple grapes, jello and juice. What else can I buy/make that's purple and nut/dairy/gluten free? TIA |

Purple potatoes
Purple carrots Purple califlower |
| Beet hummus for dip with above carrots and cauliflower |
| Are you the nanny? If so, throwing a birthday party should be the parents job. |
| I'd be careful with the purple icing and good coloring. Read the ingredients. |
Good grief, give it a rest. I've helped plan all of my charges birthday parties. Doesn't mean their parents are not involved and love their kids. |

OP here.
Yes, I'm a nanny. The party is actually for my boss who LOVES purple. We've done it last year and I'm going to make the same cake, except I'm going to bake 3 of them and and make a few layers. My boss needs gluten free and her 12 year old is allergic to nuts and milk protein, so I'm trying to make everything "everyone friendly." I'm inviting the neighbors (kids same age) and my boss's mom and sister. Last year it was kind of a last minute party so we had the cake, jello, grapes, purple peeps (lol) and some purple candy. Oh, and purple ice cream, but that was only for my boss. I will make purple smoothies and get a bottle of purple wine (shimmering one.) I love the suggestions above. I haven't even thought about purple vegetables!! My boss is vegetarian so I will look up some easy recipes. She will be hungry after work too!! Thanks guys
If you have other purple food ideas, please tell me. I still have about two weeks. |

OP again.
I was going to get white roses and put some purple coloring in them. I think I saw a picture of something like that on pinterest a while ago. Have you guys done it? I will look it up. I think you cut the stem a bit and put coloring there and it takes a day or two for the color to show. It's not a big deal if it doesn't work, because I can get purple tulips which are my boss's favorite. Although roses would be fun to do with the kids, so we might try both. |
| Too much purple. |

I've done it with the flowers, liquid watercolours work well, too. You'll need to freshen the cut and make a fairly concentrated colour with not too much water. It'll take a day or two and the roses will get a lovely faint colouring.
Sounds like an awesome idea and party! Your MB is lucky you like her so much! I did a purple party for my 11yo charge a few years ago and we had tons of fun. |
OP here. Thank you. I'm really excited about this. We might experiment with different shades of purple
|
| You could do a purple coleslaw salad with purple cabbage. |
Excellent idea, thank you

Wouldn't it be prettier with another color mixed in, like white?
That said, blueberry smoothies tend to turn purple. |
OP here. I got smoothies on the list. Thank you
We make smoothies a lot and we all love them. |
