How did you know it was time to move on?
How did you transition into another field? What's your job now? I still enjoy children, but it's just not the same as it was when I started. I'm finding myself wanting more than just the day to day with babies and toddlers. I used to love it but now I'm feeling bored. My current position will be done in June. I'm not sure if I'm just feeling burnout an need to take the summer to relax and start as a nanny again in September or if I am truly done with being a nanny. |

| I transitioned into parenting classes. I found a method that I felt connected to and became a certified instructor. I still nanny because I like/love it. But I plan to use my certification once I have my own kids. i also do sleep consulting on the side. |

I went from nannying to starting a nonprofit that helps low income families in need of the basic baby essentials. My passion for working with babies is the reason why Philadelphia's Family To Family exists. I was in the field for ten years before a life changing event where I fell 22 feet through the roof of our home. I survived with a traumatic brain injury and was told I was lucky to be alive. Somehow, I found the courage to get out of bed and do all my therapies and one day on my way home, I met a young mom with a newborn baby and no diaper bag. From that day on, I started helping babies. In 15 months we have helped 500+ families and officially got our 501c3 status in the mail today which is such an amazing milestone. I know I'm not local to you all, but my family is from the area and the ten years of nannying always brought me to this website.
I never envisioned myself starting a nonprofit. This was never something I wanted. It fell into my lap and I truly believe I'm still here because of all these families with babies who need PFTF. You can follow the journey on our FB page and also will post the link to our website. I sure do miss nannying (and earning an income) but this is my passion and I have found my purpose. I'm very thankful to be able to volunteer 90-120 hours a week towards operating the entire nonprofit by myself on a daily basis. www.facebook.com/phillyfamily2family www.philadelpgiasfamilytofamily.org |

OP here thank you for sharing this. That's amazing. I have thought about doing something in my area to help families in need, but I don't think of the organizational skills. |
I've always had an interest in the arts painting and drawing. I like science and health stuff too I had planned on earning a degree in biology before I had to drop out of school for personal reasons but that was 9 years ago and I've been a nanny since. |
