New boss posted my job on care.com? RSS feed

So I started a new job and this week was my second full week with the family. Every thing has been going great and I have been getting along great with both the parents and new nanny kid who is 2. We had an awesome week this week- went out for lunch one day and to the dollar store for crafts and then another day we went to the indoor playground. Both MB/DB have seemed really happy with me and MB even mentioned how great it was that nanny kid has seemed to click with me right away. Well I was browsing care.com yesterday while nanny kid was napping because I was looking to see if any local families were looking for occasional weekend hours and two pages in, I came across my current job! I know for sure that it's my job because it's my bosses name AND a picture of my nanny kid! She posted that they are looking for a full-time nanny to start on March 30th. I was SHOCKED when I saw that and didn't even know what to do! The one thing about the posting that stood out is that she posted that they are looking for someone for 25 hours a week from March 30th-June 1st and then come June 1st, it'll be 45 hours a week. MB is due with a new baby in 2-3 weeks and will be on maternity leave until June 1st. They decided to guarantee me 40 hours a week until June 1st to "secure my services" which they put into our work agreement.

I'm now wondering if they are regretting offering me 40 hours for the next 3 months when MB is gonna be home on maternity leave and are now trying to find someone else who will work just 25 hours and then go to full-time come June? The thing that is frustrating is that I NEVER told MB that I NEEDED those full-time hours until June! She sent me along a copy of our work agreement and had added that into it and I was shocked by it but happy! I just wanted to see what everyones thoughts are? I'm so confused and don't know if I should bring it up to MB or what I should even say?

You have to CALMLY ask her why she posted your job on care.com. Ask her to please be honest with you. That is all you can do. Give her a chance to explain. AND STAY CALM AND UNEMOTIONAL.

OP here: Do you think it's better to do it in person or via text? They are going away over the weekend and into early next week so I don't see them again until next Wednesday. I was thinking of maybe sending her a text just saying that I was on care.com looking for some part-time babysitting job and came across her job posting and was just wondering if they were unhappy with me for some reason?

I've never been in a situation like this so I don't even know what to do!!

Yikes OP! I'm so sorry. That is very crappy.
Honestly, I'd wait until Wednesday. Take the time you have off to focus on finding a new job. You don't want to alert them that you're aware of the fact that they posted a new job until you have another lined up.
They could let you go immediately and then you'd be SOL.
They're just not the right family for you. Good luck!

Could it possible they are hiring 2 nannies?

I'm probably just being naive.

Nannies are never as good as they think they are. Lots of nannies seem to have blinders on thinking they are doing a perfect job and MB is super happy with them but honestly that's rarely true.

Do it in person. Explain why you saw it, and say "I noticed you're looking for different hours than you have me working. Is that why you're looking for someone else?" If she says yes, then say you're happy to work those hours.

It's something you have to ask in person, but either way you need to have your job feelers out there because this family can't be trusted.

This must be the nanny hating troll again.

I would email her and ask her if everything is ok as you found her ad while looking for extra hours. (and I would start looking for another job)

OP here: thanks ladies! I Applied for a couple of jobs on care.com today just in case. I think im going to hold off until Wednesday and ask her then about her posting. It's just weird that she has the start date as March 30th which is why I'm wondering if once the baby comes in a couple of weeks, she's looking for someone who will just work 25 hours for the next 3 months. Either way, I'm still confused and annoyed!!!

Oh ok I was thinking maybe they were wanting to hire a nanny just for the baby.
It might be that they are looking to see if they can find a nanny willing to care for both kids for cheaper than your rate.
I'm sorry your in this situation. Fingers crossed for you on the new job front.

OP here: I thought that too but they pay me $16/hr and she has it right in the posting that the hourly rate is $16/hr!! So no idea but thanks!
