Nannies correcting and engaging other nannies charges. RSS feed

While it is a well-known LAW in the mother-community to never correct someone else's child but I haven't seen frowned upon among nannies.

In a community setting, like a library playroom, I have seen nannies play with children other than their own charges as well as gently correct another nanny's charge.

All the nannies seem to always at least smile at the other children while some mothers don't even give a smile to another child and only engage their own child.

I think this is great! I wish more mothers behaved like this.

Nannies generally love children without needed the child to be their own biological offspring. It makes sense that nannies would be more generous and helpful to both children and other nannies.

However, as a mother, it kills me that some mothers will not even give my toddler a SMILE when they are with their children. He looks at them and smiles and they just stare back at him. As a human being I could never not smile back at any child at any time.

This must be a regional thing. I have seen plenty of mothers smile and engage with kids not their own, and gently correct them as well.

It must be. I was not aware of this law either. That's great though, op.

PP here ,For the moms I think it might be fear. You hear all the time of parents getting offended if someone interacts with their kid. It's unfortunate. But I see why it's hard for them.

Nannies are similar to teachers it's our job so I think it's just second nature to interact with kids not our own we don't have that fear.
