We are first time parents just hired a nanny to care for our baby boy every Wednesday. There will be Wednesdays we will not need her do we pay for those?

if she reserves her time for you, you pay.

Thank we will pay.Just didn't know protocol.

If you want her to commit her time to you on Wednesdays you need to pay her every Wednesday whether you need her or not. You're already going to have a hard time finding someone only one day a week, if you don't guarantee hours it may be impossible to find a good nanny.

OP, here we have already hired her and she seems good to us and has great references.

We will pay, just wasn't sure. Wanted to do the right thing. I didn't want to insult her.

Good for you OP for doing the right thing. Even though she's only working for you one day a week, her time is still valuable! Keep her happy, and she will want to stay working with your family.

Great job asking advice. Now if she asks for a Wednesday off you do not need to pay her unless you are offering sick days and paid time off which doesn't usually happen with 1 day a week jobs

If you don't guarantee pay for every Wednesday, she has the right to take another job on some Wednesdays. She is holding the day for you.

Are you just stupid? You think she will reserve the time for you out of the goodness of her heart? You think you will insult her by paying for her time?
