| I am on vacation ( they aren't) but found out my charge is having sudden stomach issues. She is 7 months and we are very close. I texted MB to ask how she was doing. MB wrote back " She's fine. Thanks for caring about B". Recently the dynamic of situation changed ( long story) and MB has been short with me. Should I no longer text or is this an appropriate response? |
| Don't read tone into text and other electronic communications. You reached out, MB responded, let it be for now and ask how the baby is doing when you get back from vacation. |
| If you are going to troll you need some kind of hook. MB's response was perfectly pleasant, you shouldn't have had anything to question. What you should have done was make MB's response much nastier. i.e "She is fine. I thought you were on vacation? I've got it covered. Thx" |

Since we do not know the details of what occurred between you and your Mom Boss, it can be quite difficult to assess the situation at large.
But like someone said, in any written communication, whether it be e-mail, snail mail, text message, Facebook message, telepathy (just kidding!)....Inflection cannot be detected so it is next to impossible to try to figure out tone. The only way one can is if someone were to respond like this: -----> PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE!! DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN!! Using all caps is referred to as flaming and the intention is obvious that the person is literally screaming words at you. |
| You are on vacation. Who gives a damn how kid is. |
| You sound nuts. |
|
What would you like?
Thanks for emailing. Please enjoy your vacation. B had a little stomach virus. For about 36 hours, from Monday to Tuesday afternoon, she had green runny poop with some yellow and black mixed in. She went through 18 diapers and would only drink 3 oz of formula or breastmilk every two hours. After that, she slowly started to recover and is drinking 6 oz every 2.5 hours starting at 7 am. She went to bed at 10 and woke three times at 12, 2:20 and 5. That was an appropriate response. |
| Huh? She's fine and thank you for caring annoys you? Get a grip. |
|
I don't know if this is a troll post or not, but the response she gave you is perfectly find.
Stop looking for trouble and enjoy your time off. |
| She probably was in the middle of something when you texted. She responded quickly. What was she supposed to do? Add an emoticon smiley so you know she was happy you asked? Geez. |
|
You already asked this and we already answered you.
Why do you post this again and again....??! |
| The response sounds smarmy to me |
There is nothing "smarmy" about it. Get a dictionary. |
|
Sometimes texts don't go through the way they are meant.
Try not to worry and enjoy your vacation. |

I think your MB's response was fine. Don't look for trouble where there isn't any.
How did you find out about your charge's sudden stomach issues while you were on vacation? |
