Bad impression - should I leave NF? RSS feed

Anonymous
I know this sounds crazy..I am a perfectionist. I started with an amazing family 6 weeks ago. I loved them the moment I started and still do. Unfortunately I have not had the best start with this family. A family member passed and I got sick twice. I have missed 7 days in 6 weeks. I go back to work tomorrow, unsure if they will fire me or not. Anyway, I feel I want to leave and start fresh with another NF. I feel I made a bad impression ( by missing days) so early on but they have complimented so much on my work and seem to love me.

I received an offer from a babysitting family and I am torn. Is it stupid to leave a good family because you made a negative impression? Am I in the wrong?

Well there is no way I would have missed that much in the first place..... so you're sick, people have to go to work sick you know... the family member thing I can understand and I'm sorry about that.

Unfortunately I had strep and my charge is 14 weeks. The parents advised I not be around him.

You nannies always get "Strep" and the "flu". FYI the flu doesn't just last 24 hours, just because you have the sniffles doesn't mean you can take off and chalk it up to "everyone gets sick!"

You really shouldn't leave. That makes no sense. They haven't fired you yet and you kinda owe it to them to stick it out and be the best nanny you can be.

Excuse? No the facts before you spout out bs. I am OP. this is the first time I have been sick or missed work in two years. I did have the flu. I was out three days and then the weekend came up, I had two days for the memorial service, and two for strep.

So, it wasnt just the " sniffles". You sound ignorant and have no clue what you are talking about. No where did I say I had the flu for 24 hours.

What's done is done. Get back to work, do well, stay healthy and all will be fine.

If some other offer is the real issue, well, do the economics, think long term and do whatever you want. Job hopping every 6 weeks isn't cool tho. Put in your notice, but have a good reason to bail on them. Lack of confidence bc you missed too much work isn't really one of them unless you have a chronic issue.

Why would you quit?

That isn't logical at all.

Life isn't perfect things get messy sometimes you deal with it and move on that is being an adult.

You've had a stretch of bad luck/hard times it happens.
Keep ,moving on, and maybe get some therapy.

I don't job hop every 6 weeks. I have never left a job before unless on amicable terms. All were over one year positions.

I guess I just don't like the fact they may think I'm a bad employee or unreliable. I don't want them to have the negative impression of me.

If they really were the ones who told you to not come in, then you have nothing to worry about do you? They made the choice and can't hold it against you.

+1

Go back to work, apologize again and then use the next few months to let yourself shine.

Shut up, troll. So pathetic. I bet you aren't even a nanny.

Quiting after having 7 days off will leave a worse impression. If they already think your unreliable what makes you believe that quiting and leaving them to start an entire again after wasting some of their own PTO to cover you will make them think any better of you?

Sounds like you just want to use this as an easy way out so you can accept another job without feeling guilty. Here's an idea, bust your ass to make up for missing work or accept the time unpaid. If they fire you when you return then you can accept the other job.
