Its the holiday season again! I just want to ask what do you guys get for your charges during this period? And what is your budget for one child?
I am a part-Time nanny for 2 families (2 days a week With one and 1 day a week With the other), and Babysit other families. I have a total of 8 kids I
Nanny or Babysit (I have been With all of them for At least 1 year or more), now That I am budgetinh again and trying to find the right gift for each, I feel
Like I may be using too much. I have a budget of $100 total, but it is so hard to keep in That budget. Any suggestions on what i can get for girls ages 6,7 and 8. And boys 2,4,4,7,10? Before you as why I even bother to do, I love all of them and becuse I have a personal relationship With each one of the kids. Thank you.

That is about $10 a gift (considering sales tax). You can find some great books for around ten dollars. My little loves books so it was easy for me. First, I get all of my charges "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" and inscribe it for their first Christmas even though they are too young -- I figure they will have it forever and suggest that NF's put it away with their Christmas decorations. Also for the under four set "The Adventures of Taxi Dog" has always been the favorite book of all times.

That's so many kids I would buy them larger gifts as a group. Maybe the two older boys get a $30 gift to share, the girls get a $30 gift to share, and either the younger boys all share a $30+ gift or split it into two $20 gifts, one for the youngest and one for both 4 year olds.

For the 8&10yr old girls, Nordstrom rack. Sells these packs of fancy ponytail holders for $5 each. I'm giving that to my dd for Hanukkah one night.

I have 3 charges I typically spend 30 on each. I babysit for other families but I don't feel the need to buy those children gifts. If I had a more structured schedule with the babysitting families like every tue and wed from 6-10 then yes I would get them a gift but once or twice a month sporadic babysitting no.
I'm getting my 3 yr old charge an Olaf waffle iron and I'm not sure yet about the other 2.

Op here. Its 5 families (3 With 2 kids and 2 With one), the parents always give me something. Some of them was once a week schedule and then changed to date nights and week days. So it is not just sporadic babysitting. Thanks for the suggestions. I Will do $10 or so per child.

I do not want my babysitter or nanny giving my kids presents. They already are inundated by grandparents. The last thing I need is more crap in the house.

If you really must give something, give them an experience. Take the three yr old ice skating. Bake with the two year old. But no toys or shirts or games.

book for little ones, ben and jerry gift card for older ones.

You could go to a dollar store and get 3 or 4 items per kid

For Christmas I usually get books, one per child. They always get so many presents, I don't want to add more crap to the house.

But I've been with my family for three years and they have pretty much every book that's ever been written, so this year I'm getting my 4 charges a big box with 4 bath colors, 4 fizzy bath balls and sweets to share because I know they love bathing stuff.

Shouldn't the nanny have already done or be doing that type of stuff? It's not really a christmas present to go ice skating if we have been 3 times already this season. Same with baking.

That seems absolutely insane. I wouldn't even buy that much for my nieces and nephews. I'm shocked your MB/DB haven't told you to stop buying their kids so much stuff.
