I'm very allergic to NF Christmas tree, like absolutely miserable almost unable to function.
I told MB about it, and she just said they will buy me some Benedryl. Benedryl only does so much and makes me very drowsy. What do I say now? |
| You say "Sorry, I didn't consider the requirements when choosing to become a nanny that I wouldn't be able to always get my way, so I have to quit. Maybe I will go work for Burger King so I can always 'Have it my way.'" |
| Take claritin or zyrtec for the next four weeks and stay out of the area of the tree. Benadryl May make you drowsy and you don't want that while you're with kids. |
| Have you never been around Christmas trees before? |
| Wow how inconsiderate! Sorry OP, your NF sound like assholes. I'd quit and site unworkable work conditions when you file for unemployment. |
No. |
ROFL. Oh, also cite "hostile work environment" for assault by Christmas tree. Go get em' OP! |
|
So they aren't supposed to have a Christmas tree because of nanny?
Do you think the kids should go without a tree just for you? I assume you have been around Christmas trees before OP So you A. Could have informed them before tree purchase that you are allergic to trees or which specific trees you are allergic to. B. Get the allergy meds that work for you. Try claritin or zrytec they are both OTC and since they offered to pay for benadryl they should be willing to pay for the claritin or zrytec. Stay out of the tree room. |

I'm not sure why people are being so mean to you, it's kind of like if nanny family got a cat and then you discovered you were allergic. :-/ I wouldn't expect them to ditch the tree, but I also wouldn't expect you to work around something that's giving you an allergic reaction.
The nanny of my previous family was allergic to mango, and my MB went as far to be sure she never even bought baby food containing mango for the nanny to feed her son. She's a fantastic boss, though, and an all around wonderful woman. |
| That should read previous nanny! |
I don't know what to do, that's why I'm asking. |
HAHAHAHAHA are you kidding me? What the hell do you expect her bosses to say? "omg we will get rid of the tree now!!!!!"? You are insane. |
There is quite a difference between a cat and some mangos. |
| OP you either suck it up and deal with it/find some allergy meds or you just quit. You are delusional if you expect them to not have a tree because of their nanny. |
|
You can put on your big girl pants and take some non drowsy allergy meds and suck it up for 4 weeks. Or you can quit. But you can't really claim hostile work environment or unsafe working conditions to get workers comp.
Where are you from that you've never been around a Christmas tree? Oh and one more thing since you seem to be a bit dim, under no circumstances should you ask them to take down the tree. Well, you can. But don't be surprise when you get let go. |
