Why should I have to take a paycut for bringing my child? RSS feed

I'm serious. I still go to their home, which is super convenient for them. They still get a nanny. Why should I have to pay to watch my child too? Why should they care that I'm not paying child care?

This is a joke, right?

Because their child is not getting 1 on 1 attention. Now your attention is being split and you are taking care of 2

I've never been paid less when bringing my child.

Why does my employer let me bring my kids to work and let me set his carrier on my desk. I'll only play with him occasionally and feed and rock him and comfort him when needed. Won't take much of my attention at all.

You don't, have to.
You can put your kid in daycare and receive the same pay
Or
You can quit this job and find a family that agrees with you.
The choice is yours

I would never, ever dream of bringing my child with me unless it was a one-time, extremely dire, life and death, no other option sort of situation with a family with which I had a long, stable history. Even in that case, I'd rather find a sub than not be able to be 100% for any of the children involved.

Now if I were the family, on a general basis, I wouldn't like it either, but if it were a case like the one I described above, I wouldn't bat an eye to help out a loyal employee with a one-time problem and wouldn't dream of cutting their pay rate. If it was a regular thing however...

Why should they pay you to use their house all day, use their utilities and other things and feed you and your child for a play date. Maybe you should pay them instead?

OP here. I bring my child's food and everything she needs.

How much less do you make bringing your child than if you didn't?

Why does a child need one on one? Only one being raised as a self-centered brat does.

Bringing your child is akin to a nanny share set up (I would expect to pay less). I've employed 2 moms who brought their child and they definitely were paid a lower rate.

I make $150 less per week.

They don't need it but that is what a nanny is and that is what the parents pay for.

I'm serious. I hope you are a troll because otherwise you may be the stupidest person to ever draw breath.
