Question - where did you find your nanny? RSS feed

Anonymous
I am interested to know how people have been connected with their nanny. Did you post on this forum? Did you use a service or an internet site like Care.com? Did you get a recommendation from another family that was making a change?

Just a quick answer will do, and thank you in advance for the information!

Best candidates (including the one we hired who has been with us for 3 years) came from a neighborhood listserv.

I walked up to a Nanny in the park she gave me various numbers and names to friends who were looking for a nanny position. Found my perfect match my twins love her!

We interviewed a couple people from Care.com but the best ones came from this list.

This has been our experience, too.

We found our nanny from care.com. We called several nannies from this forum but they were all too expensive.

I found a great nanny I had for years on Craigs List. Had to shuffle through a lot of losers, but she turned out prefect….PLUS she was a neat freak and you know how much that is appreciated!!

You called nannies from the Nanny Search forum? They all seem to be pretty cheap (and ESL, but some people like that.)

My friend found a great nanny on Sittercity.com, then referred her to me.

I was actually using Care.com and in the middle of interviewing potential candidates when I interviewed this nanny that my friend referred who I eventually hired.

We relied on parents who posted about their nannies on this forum. We did phone screens with 10-12 and in person with 4. We had a clear favorite, who had great references and we've been happy with her.

Found my nanny here DCUM. I am very happy with our Nanny!

DCUM. Care.com is appealing because they have the whole background check feature but after learning how worthless the check is we figured there was no real advantage. We interviewed nannies from both DCUM and Care but our top few candidates were all from DCUM. The nanny we hired has been amazing - fluent in the English language, has a degree, fairly priced, and pitches in to make the week run smoother even though she is only asked to do childcare.

DCUM--found an amazing nanny who worked for us for 3 years. New nanny was through neighborhood listserv. But we got great candidates through DCUM this time too.
