I am babysitting for one hour, travel time 30-45 minutes. The family will pay me for 2 hours $40. Is it worth it?

Only you can decide that. If you accepted
then obviously you felt it was worth it. |

$20/hr is pretty high for a standard date night type babysitting gig. How many kids is it?
My babysitting rates start at $15/hr, and I usually have a 3 hour minimum, so $45. $40 for a much shorter period of work seems worth it to me, but as PP said only you can really decide that. |

That's up to you.
For me it would not be worth it. I usually have a 4 hour minimum just to make the travel worth it. Only exceptions are for families I have a close relationship with or families that are really close. But again only you can decide if it's worth it to you. |
Thank you for your answer.

I have the same rules as pp. Three hours minimum unless they're good friends in a bind or a family who's located very close by.
|
| Sometimes I'll do short gigs for families I'm developing a relationship with, but as I get older the hassle is less and less worth it. |
| I'd probably pass on it too. |
| My minimum to come over for babysitting is $65. I wouldn't drive all over town and work for an hour for $40. |

Is it worth it to you OP? That's the only relevant point.
Seems like a pretty expensive hour from the family's perspective so there must be some reason they're being so generous. |
