Things that annoy me

*Lying about the rate being offered. If you only want to pay $10 per hour don't say you are willing to pay $20.
*Offering $10 per hour. Plain and simple it is annoying.
*Acting surprised when you can't find your dream nanny for $10 per hour.
*Acting surprised when you can't keep a long term nanny for $260 a week.
*People that do not realize they cannot afford a nanny. Daycare is a nice option having a nanny is a luxury.
Nannies that act like it's okay to work for a less than liveable wage.

Here's my list:
- claiming you pride yourself on your reliability but managing to miss more than 2 months of work in your first year for one calamity or another
- saying you fully support a maximum of 30 minutes a day of screen time but somehow my child now knows the afternoon cartoon lineup and can sing ad jingle for products we don't buy
- acting as though we're made of money and would be happy to pay your rent/car repair/unexpected filling if you just drop enough hints about how hard your life is
- saying you're a professional who wants to be treated professionally but sharing WAAAAAY too much about your personal health, boyfriend of the moment, impending eviction because of ongoing fights with roommate, etc...
- lying to me about small inconsequential things in a way that makes me question everything else you tell me about how my child spends his day
- claiming you deserve to be paid at a base rate of $25/hr for the behaviors listed above

Just an experienced nanny who is sick of all of the entitled brats that post threads about how above everyone else they are, and how DARE anyone presume to pay them such meager rates..oh yeah and all of the people that do are insulting the entire nannying profession. $10/hr is a perfectly reasonable rate for certain positions and many of you could do with a little humility; realize that in plenty of other professions you would be making a lot less (especially given the fact that most nannies have no real credentials or relevant education).
If you don't want to take a job paying $10/hr, DON'T TAKE IT! Why accept a position just to turn around and bitch about how little you are being paid?

When a parent complains that they had a long day. Um, do you remember this morning how I was here working before you even left for work? And how even tho you have been off work 45mins and have apparently stopped for food, I am STILL HERE working. Even worse when they say it and they are late getting home!

$10 is not an acceptable rate for a nanny job period.
That rate is okay for a teenage sitter or a mother's helper.
It's not entitled to know your worth and expect to be paid accordingly.
