I am a member of the Mt. Pleasant, DC community.
Today (Thursday 10/16/14), at around 12:15pm, I observed a child caretaker leaving two children unattended outside of the Mt. Pleasant St. 7-11 while she went inside of the market next door. I felt concerned; so I stayed near the children until the woman emerged from the store. The woman, who spoke Spanish, said the children were her grandchildren. Here are descriptions of the children and caretaker: Caretaker: - Hispanic; short bowl-style haircut, brown/gray hair; white sneakers; glasses; approximately middle-aged. Children: - One toddler (2-3?) and one infant; infant with white onesie; toddler with hot-pink and purple Adidas sneakers; red double stroller. If these are your children, and the woman IS their grandmother, please accept my apologies. I was simply alarmed at the children being left alone on the street. Please note that I will not check back to this message board - IF these children ARE yours, and you want more details, please call me at 202-425-4752. My initials are HM. |

If my mother left my infant and toddler alone on the sidewalk while she was shopping at a store, I would be furious and would question her judgment. she would not be watching my kids alone anymore. being a relative is not an excuse for reckelss behavior that can endanger a child. thank you for caring, for stepping up for those kids and and for reporting |
Thank you for being an advocate for these poor children who are at this time, voiceless.
Thankfully it was YOU, not some sick pedophile that got to them first. ![]() |
OP, just out of curiosity, how long was the woman in the store? |
