When traveling with nanny RSS feed

is it okay to have the nanny stay in a less-nice (less expensive) room than ours? We could save over $200 a night. It's still a very nice hotel. Thoughts?

Uh...When you say "less nice" do you mean as in a smaller-type room or do you mean a budget-type room while you guys stay in a suite on another floor?

Because if saving money is that important to you, then don't be surprised when the nanny looks pissed off when she sees you ordering steaks and getting massages while she gets to sleep in the broom closet...err...rather her small room.

Nanny here-

I think it's totally fine. I've often stayed in smaller and cheaper rooms. When it's just 1 person in the room you don't need the same amount of space as an entire family.

PP-

I actually prefer to stay on a different floor. It makes it easier to really feel off when you are not working.

Nanny isn't on vacation. FFS.

As long as she can sleep in a clean room and get a private bathroom I think it's totally fine.

A smaller room is fine. As long as it's got the standard amenities then she shouldn't mind. I also prefer to stay on a different floor for the same reasons as PP.

As long as the kids aren't sleeping with her, I'd say it's fine for the nanny to have a smaller room--it's just one person v. an entire family. As long as it has the standard amenities and a private bathroom, it's fine.

Sure, it's fine.

She is the help so why don't you put in in the closest skid row hotel. Why would she deserve a roo
room with any hint of luxury. I cannot imagine treating the person who takes care of my most precious possesdion in such a cheap manner.

What's the big deal? It's not like they are sticking the nanny in a motel down the road. Presumably the family has picked a nice hotel, in which all rooms would be perfectly fine. The OP probably just wants a larger room or suite for the family, and will get the OP a room satisfactory for one. In Europe they often have smaller, "single" rooms in hotels for one traveling solo.

OP here. We'll be staying at the St. Regis Bal Harbour. We're getting an ocean front suite. We were thinking of getting our nanny a room about half the square footage (so fewer bedrooms and no kitchen or dining room), and she could use our suite during the day for meals with the kids. The entire hotel is a luxury hotel.

I don't see why the nanny needs more then one bedroom if she is the only person who will stay in the room. Standard rooms do not include a kitchen so that's also unnecessary. OP, you are doing just fine.

Wow that's so nice if you OP. I usually sleep in the kids room when I go on vacation with my NF. I originally thought you wanted to get her a room at a less expensive motel near by.

You're fine, OP. Ignore the bitter nanny who always begins her trolling with "my most precious possession". She is a well known nanny troll here.

Your plan for your nanny is very reasonable.
