And why would you be uncomfortable caring for him with a fever?

Monday through Wednesday, it was in the range 98.5 to 101.
Thursday and Friday, it was super high .103 and 104

That’s not super high for a child especially a teething infant. I would have asked mom if I could give small amount of baby aspirin but it’s the moms call when her kid goes to the doctor. If this makes you uncomfortable you should find a job with older children or parents that work from home, you seem like you need more oversight

Dear God, you NEVER give a child aspirin - baby or otherwise. NEVER. Please tell me you understand this. Please say you misspoke or will never do this again.

While I would have taken this baby to the doctor last week, it’s still no reason for the nanny not to come to work.

No, they won't. Daycare you have to pick up kids on time or you are charged per minute. You can't have job creep in day care but is prevalent for nannies

Sounds like parents are not interested in parenting their children. 50 hours a week away from their kid. Sheesh. And kid is running a high fever!

Why are people like this even having kids?

no, nanny is not supposed to care of your sick child. Just like daycare center would call you if your child runs ever, nanny would call you if illness detected during her shift, and you would have to come home and take over. This is because, number one, if nanny gets sick from your child, she may not be able work for a greater number of days, and may lose a week or 2 in her pay, number 2, the babies who run fevers are pretty miserable and need parent, especially if it is ear infection, and third, teething is almost never a cause for a fever that lasts more than a day. It is just parents' excuse. would not work in any daycare center, nope. And when they finally take baby to the pediatrician, it is usually viral and by that time nanny gets it, her family gets it and she would miss even more days. The good news, babies do not get sick so often in nanny situation. I am a nanny and we had slight colds 3 times during past year, and only one time accompanied by fever that last a day only, so I had the baby with er mom half day and the next day only, after that no fever but slight sniffles which was fine by me.
