Au pair not joining for Christmas

Pretty sure the parents will be staying there while you’re away. You’re gone so why be so mean?

We have a hundred year old house. I wouldn't want our au pair staying here by herself, and I especially wouldn't want her parents who are used to apartment living to be futzing around with the heat or leaving a window open so that the pipes freeze.
