I would have gone stir crazy!!

Personally parents who work from home should be glad the child + Nanny are out of the house.

That way it is quiet w/zero distraction.

I sometimes do not buy the fact that parents actually work that hard when in the home since it seems the majority of them spend way too much time listening in and micromanaging their Nannies.

One of the many reasons to part ways

Our nanny used to do this and she was lying about what she was doing with DD. She was basically conducting her normal days, with running errands and socializing, with DD in tow. We ended up parting ways.

Nanny here. I take the kiddo out for 3ish hours in the morning and usually a half hour in the afternoon. Same age as your kid. I do this whether the parents work from home or not. We do classes, parks, grab snacks, go for walks, play dates, libraries etc. I'd be bored out of my mind being ina house for 8+ hours a day.

Not too long. It really sucks working with a parent in the home, even if you're tucked away in some other room. Kid knows you're there so might not stop fussing for you, nanny may be anxious about the possibility of you hearing your child whine or cry over normal circumstances, nanny might just feel uncomfortable in general knowing you could possibly hear everything going on. It's not an easy dynamic and it can make some nannies feel uncomfortable. Getting out of the house is a healthy way to deal if that's the case.
