Finding someone to drive to/from school

OP here. I am considering hiring someone full time but I was hoping to get the toddler out of the car for 3+ hours everyday. So far she's with me on the whole trip.

Is there a bus for your older child? I just found out my private has a bus (still have to drive but it's only about 5 minutes away).....

us too. and before we got the Au Pair, we arranged a carpool with another family, so they drove preschooler (full-day program) in the morning, and we (or babysitter) picked up.
It eventually got logistically too hard, so we got the Au Pair.

Can't you or your husband slightly adjust your schedule to drive one way? It's much easier to find a babysitter for 1 straight shift per day.

Maybe if you looked into hiring two people, one for mornings, one for afternoons? Potentially there are nannies who wouldn't be averse to earning some extra cash before their main job in the morning, and someone might be on their way to an after school job or getting off after a morning shift? I've done a lot of weirdly timed jobs over the years, but I would never commit to a split shift for such little income long term, personally.

Especially the midday shift looks like something a retiree might be interested in? If they're not too old to drive, obviously.

One thing that (sort of) allowed us to hire a student for transportation needs, is providing a car for the said student for all of their personal time. We basically gave a vehicle temporarily to the "driver/nanny", paid her some hourly wage, paid insurance and maintenance on the car, but she then had the car all the time. I think it worked out for her because of the benefit of having the car. We also gave her gas money for the trips that she did with our kids. We stopped the arrangement for other reason, but transportation part worked, and she returned the car to us.

2) Should I have them drive my car or their own?

I assume this is for a private school or magnet program or special program needed? Otherwise I'd strongly consider simplifying my life - juggling 2 parent commutes and multiple kid commutes blows.
