| Nanny here! My family (I had worked for them for almost a year at that point) gave me a lovely card from the kids, a $50 Amazon gift card, and my birthday off. That was (in my opinion) perfect! I was/am grateful for their generosity. I think it's important for the family to give what they can and not just try to keep up with what they think is the norm. No family or nanny is the same. I will say it was nice to feel acknowledged and appreciated for my birthday though! |
| I have always given birthday presents($50 to $100 GC) to our nannies (3 in 7 years). I make sure kids sign the card, we cut cake together and she gets the day off. Now, they were nice enough to bring me Mother's Day cards and gifts for my kids on their birthday. This is not a normal 9-5 job dynamic, things are more personal, that's just the way it is. |
Actually I work at a small IT company and my direct boss (the owner) gives is "little people" a $250 GC to a nice restaurant and allows us to expense a limo ride to and from the restaurant. Yea, he is not only amazing for this, but he is overall a wonderful human being. I'd move mountains for him. |

There is no nanny alive now who wouldn't like the idea of a monetary ca$h amount on her special day. Trust me.
A good second choice would be a gift card to a spa, hair salon or Target. |
No thanks, I don't go to spas or salons, and the only shopping I do at Target is for my NF. |
