The San Diego nanny works 23 hours per week, she doesn't make that much per week so you have that wrong in numbers. |
Lucky you. You have awesome employers. ![]() |
Whoa!! No wonder you didn't comment...You are out hitting the mall! ![]() |
I think it's funny how so many claim to work as a nanny because they love children and really wasn't to make a difference!!!!!
Yet if they don't get a huge bonus or gift they are ready to quit and rant Doesn't matter how much they love the kids then or how well they are treated they want $1000 cash and an iPad! You don't see entire threads on how much they love their job, but come holiday time there are endless posts about gift hauls. Year round itself post after post about how nannies need to be paid $35 an hour! It is truly eye opening . |
You are mistaken. She says she works 34 hours per week at $23/hr in her first post. |
You all need a geography lesson. That nanny ($23/hr) is from Santa Barbara--not San Diego. They are over 200 miles apart. |
As the OC nanny, I would like to say that it's not all about the money. My employers are very generous in other ways that give me a great work/life balance. They are respectful of my time, and paid me in totally for about 8 weeks of vacation this year. They decided to go away quite a bit, and I got married in Aug so was out for 2 weeks. MB also works from home and let's me go early on days she can, so sometimes I only work 1/2 days but still get paid for full days. I know plenty of my nanny friends who get paid more, yet would take my job in an instant bc of how nice my employers are. So to the MB yes starting out in any job at the top will make you resentful, bc everyone wants to see growth, but there are many other factors that go into making you happy in your job. |
Absolutely nada. Never gotten a bonus. |
Here's a comment-no not hitting the mall (wouldn't be caught dead near a shopping mall around the holidays ![]() |
Thank you! Santa Barbara and San Diego are very different nanny markets. |
Location - Bay Area, California
Length of employment - 18 months Weekly salary - $1650 (40 hrs @$30/hr, 10hrs @$45/hr) Bonus - 2 weeks Salary ($3300) Gifts - Moksha Scarf, Framed Photo of my charges, Bag from Feed Projects, Spa Gift Certificate Comments - I love my employers and my job. It's a busy and sometimes exhausting position, but I'm very happy. |
What??? No Groupon for the spa thing?? Lucky you. ![]() |
No YOU are the mistaken one dear. It says she works for up to 23 hours a week. Get your facts correct. Please....I am quite math-challenged enough already, don't make this any more harder for me! Lol. And trust me on this. Santa Barbara and San Diego are like night and day. Totally. |
The same can be said for any career. Whether it be a Dr., a teacher, a social worker or a vet. We all care about making a difference sure, that is a huge reason we do what we do. But we also know that we live in a real world vs. a dream world and in the real world, bills come in the mail every month that need to be paid, mouths need to be fed, and homes need to be paid for. Oh yeah, and Dr.s need to be compensated and cars need to be maintained and.....Ugh....Need I say more? I think you get the picture. |
You are right that I got the Santa Barbara part wrong. This, however, is a direct quote from her post: "Weekly salary - 34 hours at $23/hour." I also don't think the market is much different between SD and SB, though may be cheaper in OC. |
