MB here: Sittercity's "tips" for parents posting ads include offering a higher rate in the ad than you intend to pay, and then planning to negotiate with the candidate. I couldn't believe it when I read it, but they really do suggest that!

They get no more of my money! As a nanny on the site, it used to be that you could purchase a background check that stayed on your profile for a year, then it was 6 months, I'm pretty sure they only last 3 months now and continue to rise in price. They have also frozen my account when I point out ads offering illegal wages, or respond to parents directly. When I contacted sittercity about some of their more shady business practices, they froze my account again, and claimed to be nothing more than a job board and they bear no responsibility for what is posted. They are a shady shady business mooching off of desperate parents and nannies.

OP I am so sorry you are going through all of this.

Parents are so stupid sometimes. It seems they do not value us nannies as legit employees and in doing so, do not think our time is valuable and treat us like we are less than them.

I would continue my search and not let these bad apples spoil anything.
There are some GOOD families out there that treat their nannies with respect trust me.

Keep the faith.
