OP, you can't get any useful help here when you don't disclose the real picture. Do you think your nanny is dumb enough to let you throw in your older child everytime you want, for free?

Is that why some of you like having dumb help? You can get over on them??

Think your plans are fine OP. 53K is a lot and an ample salary for most nannies. The comparison is not only to how much more she would get than now. It is also to her other options if you decide to just find a new nanny fr the share and she is no hunting to replace a relatively high salary.

Courious if this nanny thought 53K was acceptable compensation considering the increased workload.

Dear lord! The nannies on this board are strange. A $19 or so share rate yields excellent candidates in the DC area. OP, what your offering is a solid salary. If your nanny feels that the 1.50 more isn't worth it, then she'll negotiate with you. If you can't find resolution, you'll part ways. But with your package in this area (not sure where prior PPs are from) you'll have great people to choose from. 50K a year - not shabby at all!

Why don't you take your head out of the sand? Some nannies earn 25 for ONE child. People who can afford it don't care about you and your fantasies. Share nannies earn whatever they and their employers agree to. You have no power over them and to pretend otherwise is childish and a waste of our time here. If YOU can't afford it, that's fine. Not everyone can afford the biggest house on the block either. It's ok.

Only a very few nannies make $25/hr. Most likely the college educated ones who work for high profile families. Get out of YOUR fantasy world. If nannying really got the average nanny over $20 per hour than everyone would be in the profession because it would be too easy.

OP PLEASE don't take "advice" from nannies on this board. They're not going to give you realistic answers. $1.50 might be to low but if your nanny is already making close to $20 per hour she may be up for it. Just ask and negotiate.

I'm sure OP didn't decrease her nanny's rate simply because one kid went to daycare/school. So why do most nannies have a heart attack when they're required to watch an extra child if he/she is out of daycare/school. So many entitled, non professional, ridiculous nannies on this board it's not even funny.

And you are? An entitled m, by any chance? (You can come clean here.)
