When it comes to my nanny taking the kids somewhere I always ask her if she wants to and if it was a babysitter I'd definitely ask BUT OP said the MB here was recently widowed. I think that means cutting her a lot of slack. I can't even imagine what she is going through and I suspect most of you can't either. I'm not saying the babysitter should be a doormat but I'd tread very lightly here, she must be going through unbelievable pain and having to take care of a you g child and dealing with HIS pain too. Give her a break.
