It is reasonable to ask a nanny to take whatever tests are normally asked of daycare workers. |
And preschool teachers. That's typically a TB test. |
You need to keep up with current events. There are a lot of unemployed people in this country that are desperate for work. There are more workers than jobs. Quit a job only when you have another one lined up. Also, this board is hardly statistically representative of the real world. |
Being desparate for work, does not automatically make a person a good nanny, unfortunately. As many families there are desparate for a good nanny, there are fewer good nannies to fill the needs.
It's the rare MB who has no complaints about her nanny. By the same token, it's the rare nanny, who has no complaints about her MB. |
Being desperate for work means that a person will take a job that they normally wouldn't--one with less pay and benefits or worse working conditions in order to pay the bills. There are many more workers than jobs in America I recommend you watch two recent documentaries: "Hard Times: Lost on Long Island" and "American Winter". |
This article is talking about something that happened in a country where beheadings are common for murder. A child died in her care, she deserved a punishment, it just would not have been so cruel in our own country.
IMO nannys have just as many rights as any other profession, but if a nanny lets things get too far without speaking up, she's the same as any other person who stays in.a job that's not right or fair just for the job. |
It's sad that so few parents have a clue as to the harm they are causing their children, by resorting to the cheap, inadaquate, and illegal "care" they hire.
Sad. Sad. Sad. |
