I think you're mistaking this thread for one where MBs were asked how they felt about it. No one here did.

I would never hire someone so rude to watch my kids.

That's okay, I'm very happily employed!

Look, I appreciate people wanting to sound off their opinions, but all that happens on this forum is people get embroiled in angry, bitter arguments where everyone is left annoyed. In the threads where people follow the OPs lead in only answering/responding to the stated question, things remain significantly more civil. It's a lesson I'd love everyone to learn, MBs and nannies alike.

Do you usually find snarky condescension an effective tool?

It did seem to prevent anyone from making it the topic of conversation, so in this case? Yes I did.

I do all my tv watching online, don't even own a tv at home so it never really occurs to me to turn the tv on.

My last nanny job I watched tv exactly 3x at work- all for under 5-10 mins.

Once for the last space shuttle flight (toddler loved it!) and once because they child had a relative on tv. Other time was during nap for something I wanted to see live.

Just not a tv person.

I do not like to watch T.V. when working unless I am doing a late night and know the kids are in bed for the rest of the night. Then I might just watch something w/the volume down low. However, I ALWAYS keep an ear out for any sound coming from the bedroom.

When the kids are awake, unless the parents explicitly give me permission to have the T.V. on, it remains off.
I would never watch the news or a show I like when the children are around. It would be too distracting and not good for the kids.

Yes, I watch sometimes when both kids are napping, maybe a few times a week. I complete all of my responsibilities first. It is in my agreement that I am allowed to use tv/Internet when all of my work is done.

Luckily, you don't run the board, or the world.

You are really very rude.

This is right.

Yeah, I was rude that one time and no one got into a nasty argument.

I think I can live with that.

I never turn on the house tv, but I do have a netflix app on my iphone, and I'll watch things while kids are asleep while I fold laundry or cook. When they were infants and needed to be rocked to sleep, I would turn on a show with subtitles and turn the sound off, then I'd rock and sing to them while watching.

Can I hire one of you on here who's so busy that they don't have time and don't really watch tv? wow! Can you show my nanny a thing or two who plops herself on my couch when the baby is asleep to watch her telenovelas??
