My charge is 10 months old today. For the last two weeks she has been begging to be put back into the play yard when we are home. She crawls over to it and clings to the side crying until I put her in. Before this, she was only in the play yard during naps. Once back in, she quietly plays and does not show interest in getting back out. When I take her out to do floor time or go outside she cries. She will be very Whitney until I put her back. More recently she is doing the same thing with the stroller when we are at the park. She crawls into my lap and cries, but as soon as I put her into the stroller she is content.
For now I am respecting her demands by sitting next to the play yard to read to her and do puppets, etc. If we are out I put her back into the stroller as soon as she asks, then take a walk while pointing out the things around us. The only activity we still do outside the play yard and stroller is meals, which take place in the high chair. What might be causing her to feel so insecure all of a sudden? Is there some other way I should be going about this? |
