Nannies, have you ever been propositioned to take a bribe for another job? This has happened to me a couple of times, the first time a mom noticed how I was taking care of a little one. She approached me saying she would pay me more of I quit my family and nannies for them. Another mom was desperate, they hired a nanny and two weeks in she wanted to fire her and get another nanny. My boss sent her my info, this woman emailed, texted and
finally I called her. I explained that I just went on an interview and the family would let me know if they would hire me or not in a couple of days.

She asked me if there was anything she could do to persuade me to work for her because I had come highly recommended and had excellent references. Another mom wanted to draw up a quick contract before the other family I had interviewed with! The funny thing was I only talked to her on the phone.I laughed at all 3 situations, then declined how often does this happen?

These people are not ethical and I would give them an emphatic NO!

No, I have never been bribed, but if I were I would seriously consider not working for any type of family with such low standards because sooner or later I would feel they would do something just as shady behind my own back.

At least these people are showing you their true colors sooner rather than later, right?!

None of those things are bribes. I'm not saying it's the best thing to do (ethically speaking) but saying "I'll pay you more if you come and work for me" is not a bribe. It happens in business all the time. A bribe is "I'll buy you a car if you come and work for me."
