Has anyone ever cared for a 17 month old that has no structure to the day? I think he eats at about the same time each day but he has no routine other than that.
This is an occasional gig I have and today is the first time I'm watching him. DB said Z didn't sleep well last night because he is teething so he was up a lot throughout the night. I got him to go to sleep an hour ago and am wondering if he will be able to keep sleeping or if he will wake up and still not be rested. Anyone have a clue as to what I can expect? I was just wondering what ya'lls experiences might have been like. He seems to be a very sweet boy so I'm not expecting too much of a challenge, for now. Lol |

I'm not sure I quite understand. Do you mean there are no scheduled activities or "from 10-11 we do art" or that they follow the kid's cues on when to nap or go to bed?
Every kid is different so I'm a bit confused by asking what you can expect. When DS was teething, sometimes he slept horribly day and night. Sometimes just night. |

I take care of a 16 month old, he almost always eats and naps on a schedule and the rest of the day varies. Here's how it usually goes:
8am: I get to work, he wakes up shortly after and I change his diaper from the night and get him dressed 8:15-9ish make breakfast, feed him, clean up 9-11ish: take him for a morning outing like the park, beach running errands or grocery shopping for the family, story time etc 11ish: get back to the house and feed him lunch, let him play with toys for a bit 11:30ish: give him 4oz of milk, put him in bed for a nap 12-2:30/3: he naps 2:30/3ish: he wakes up and we watch an educational video or play with toys 4ish: second lunch clean up
4:30ish: take a walk around neighborhood, play outside with sand/water table, play with toys until parents get him home around 6:30 Some days he will take a second nap around 4:30/5 which is great. Best of luck! |
No they are not. They are legit questions. Stop trying to make everything about that damn NCT lora. |

No offense OP, but from reading your posting, you sound highly inexperienced in childcare.
Why are you so worried about structure right now? Your charge was up a lot last night due to teething issues so his day will be a little off due to his sleeping issues. When he wakes up, just plan age-appropriate activities for him to do. I.e., puzzles, playing trains, blocks, reading stories, etc. Don't worry so much about structure and scheduling right now. His timing of things will be off due to his sleeping schedule being off. |
Yes they are. I'm in NCT. This post is a direct copy/paste from a post there. There are several more that have been copied directly from NCT today as well. |
