Under Maryland law, we are required to carry worker's compensation insurance for our (part-time) nanny. Thus far, my home insurance company (Erie) has been setting me up with a separate worker's compensation policy (from another company) that I pay once per year in a lump sum. It costs between 700-800 per year in our case.
I inquired with State Farm this year, and it sounds like we would have to write a separate policy with them, as well.
I seem to recall an comment on this forum from a while back, about one of the major home insurance companies offering a rider. Does anyone know which company does it? I thought it was State Farm, but it seems their rider only covers household employees making under $1000/quarter. That is: occasionally babysitting.
