Nannies how much do you charge a full time nanny who care for 2 children kindergarten and first grade who does family laundry 2 to 3 times a weeks, errands 2 to 3 times a week, tutor children homework and teach Spanish (2 or 3), give bath and wash hair everyday and do the dish and put away everyday. In NW DC.
Sorry I am just curious since I have a nanny who does that for $15/h, but I have my stepsister in Mclean, VA who has a nanny who charges her $25/h with 2 children and does the same chores as my nanny. I am very flexible with my nanny since work from home sometimes she calls off in the morning and doesn't show up, but she uses her sick days and I pay her for snow days even if she doesn't work. Thank you for your feedback |

You are severely underpaying your nanny.
How long ha she been with you? How much experience does she have? What benefits do you offer? |
|
You aren't an MB, OP.
If you'd like to be truthful, maybe someone would be willing to give serious thought to your fake question. |
| I'm amazed you have someone who would do the parents laundry/dishes and is able to tutor homework and teach a second language (the ability to speak a second language and teach it to children are two very different things). |
| She's a troll. |
+1 And OP is claiming that she and her stepsister have found two nannies who do this for different rates. However, my guess is that the latter job responsibilities are just not done well. |
|
For example some attorneys charge $500 and hour and some attorneys charge $200 an hour; some house painters will give you a quote of $2,000 to paint a room while others will do it for $200 -- this is true in pretty much any profession. I don't understand why people assume there is one rate for any nanny within a given area.
You will generally find a range for nannies and for housekeepers within your given location. |

I do not live in DC or the surrounding area. I live in Los Angeles (west side) where the going rate for a nanny is generally $15 to $20 an hour. My rate is between $20 and $25 for one child with no housework beyond what is involved in the care of the child. Yes, I have not been given job offers because I am more than what the parents want or can afford.
That said, I am currently in a position where I accepted $18 an hour because the job is two blocks away from my apartment (if you have ever been to LA you know how horrible the traffic is) and because this job was 40 hours a week, four days a week which gives me Monday's off. Both of these things were ideal for me - zero commute and a weekday off. So my advice to all potential employers is to decide what you want and what you can afford - and then do not be afraid to look at more expensive nannies as you may have something to offer them beyond straight hourly salary. |
Exactly. Certain working mothers (and agencies for that matter), wish to create an artificially low "standard" or so-called market rate, just so they can maximize their ability to think they can afford a nanny. What you generally get for less than $20/hr is a babysitter, not a professional nanny who knows how to do her job. A sitter will keep you busy micro-managing her day. You don't do that with a nanny. |
| If your children are both in school it sounds like you have more of a housekeeper than a nanny. |
I was thinking the same thing. |
| For 2:49 you should respect yourself. When your life is fake and you use to lie sometimes you are confuse because your are mentally sick, so you think everyone lies like you. You are a trash person. Thus ,next time just be r espectful because your life is empty and miserable . Concerning the feedbacks i am glad to hear from you, they are very helpful. Thank you |
I'm not 2:49 but there is something about your OP that makes me think you are also not an MB. This latest post just adds to it. My guess is that you are a nanny and you are wondering if you deserve more money. |
| She's a trolling mb entertaining herself. |
She's not an MB at all. |
