"I'm looking for a great nanny for my 4-month-old. I am a brand new (young) mom who just got a job offer that will open many doors for my family. Right now, I am offering $150 per week. My new work hours will be Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but I will need to leave my house by 8 a.m. at the very latest in the morning, and will need at least an hour to get home in the evening. So 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. would be your hours. We do have one cat who does her own thing and needs no care. Please be sure to have your own reliable transportation. We would like someone who is experienced with young babies, as it requires lots of patience and attention. Serious inquiries only, please. Starting date would be July 14th, 2014, but would like to meet beforehand! "
Do the people who post these ads have any sense!? $3 an hour....wow. |
| I wish the authorities would crack down on these people - they are advertising to break the law. |
Nannies and domestic help are not subject to any minimum wage requirements. |
| Typical care scam. That's what they're known best for. Sittercity too. |
How is that a scam? |
Uhhh...link please? Because that is patently false. |
Yes.... They are...? You're dumb and trying to stir up shit. Troll harder. |
|
Do you think that those are fake posts? For example, a nanny is trying to understand how her profile looks compared to other nannies, and creates a fake family profile. The way care.com works, it kind of forces you to post a job before you can do anything. So then the nanny goes ahead and makes up whatever stuff she wants...
I guess I just can't imagine any MB that is seriously looking for a nanny thinking that $150 per week is a reasonable price. It is even lower than typical at home daycare fee... |
| OP here, unfortunately in my area (definitely not DC), parents are constantly looking for a nanny at a daycare price. |
I'm impressed that you have daycares at that price! (But yes, household employees, which includes nannies, must be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25, or more if you have a higher local minimum wage. That's been the law for 30+ years.) |
| I've seen quite a few ads on Care.com wanting nannies to work 30+ hours a week and wanting to pay in the $150-300 range. I've also gotten some messages from families looking to pay $150-300 a week and I always politely introduce myself and tell them in my 1st message that my rate starts at $15 per hour for up to 40 hours of care and $22.50 for all hours after 40 per week. They usually don't message me back after that. |
| Slave trade. |
| Nannies are required to make minimum wage and overtime for anything over 40 hours. It's illegal for a nanny to be salary |
No one cares. The Abusers will always find another victim, under our current laws. |
Stop with this. It is not even close.
