| I'm babysitting next week for my usual family and their neighbor. I usually am paid $17.50/hr for the two little girls I watch but am unsure what to charge for the additional child. Any tips for the going Nannyshare rate in D.C? |
| Age of other child? |
| Children are 2 and 7, additional child is 8 |
| I would think they'd be happy to pay you at least $10/hr. for your doing this big favor for them. |
| It's always less complicated when you handle the finances directly with the parents, so you're doing it the right way. |
| I would probably charge $10 an hour for the extra charge. Since it doesn't sound like it will be an ongoing share, just additional babysitting. |
|
Also, even for a short commitment, ALWAYS please make sure to put your agreement in writing for them to sign.
This is very important. |
| Thanks for all the advice! $10 sounds fair to me as well |
| Agree with $10 for one time babysitting. |

I would expect at least $27.50, even for a long term nanny share. Three children from two families is a good amount of work, and more importantly, responsibility.
Nannies have every right to be appropriately compensationed for the level of responsibility they have. |
| Also, check with your local family daycare licensing laws. Shares are sometimes illegal. |
