I know for sure one of you posters on here is the woman from this news story. Fess up!

Yikes. I've said it before and this proves in right that you have to abide by tenant landlord laws when you have a live in nanny. You can just kick someone out of their house even if it's not really their house.

Why did they not do a background check on her

The point that I take away from this article is that if the police won't help you and you would have to sue her to resolve this then you might as well just take action into your own hands. Forcibly throw her out and dump her shit on the street. When she calls police just say she doesn't live there and you have never seen her. They will tell her to take a hike and sue if she wants too. They won't force you to allow a stranger to enter your home.

If they are gaming the system you have to play the game better.

This is why smart parents do background checks.

The police don't do anything unless one of their own is involved.

Did it say she was a criminal in the article? She started a bunch of lawsuits but would that show up on a background check? As long as she hasn't been arrest or jailed, I don't think any of that small claims or civil stuff would show up on a criminal background check.

This is awful.

Exactly like we all said last month, don't hire old nannies. nothing but trouble.

also I wouldn't have hired her just based on her appearance, she looks evil.

You're sick in the head. Who would do that to someone?

A father who doesn't want a crazy psycho criminal living in their home with their 3 little kids. This woman obviously is a crook in every sense, she has no morals, and every second she stays in that house she is being a danger to the children and is probably stealing everything she thinks won't be noticed. And I would guarantee money she will take whatever big things she can by the time she is finally evicted... jewelry, money, silverware, and electronics.

She sounds mentally ill. I hope her family steps in and takes her in and gets her the help she needs. Not the responsibility of the family to be a halfway house.

+1. My DH would do the same and I'd help him throw her stuff out. She's a con woman and relies on the civility of her victims to rob them.

Did you ALL miss the fact that the family "hired" her to be a live-in full time mother's helper, but never agreed to pay her anything? Wow. Imagine that! Why can't we get that deal?

Who said, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

But, but they just thought they got lucky, and hit the jackpot. My ass.

If this article is accurate, it is partially the family's fault here for hiring someone to care for the children and clean the house for them, yet not offering to pay the person any money. Just providing room + board. That is illegal. That is what they used to do to slaves.

However, I am not saying I am on the side of this nanny. I agree a background check should have been done, but maybe one was. The article didn't state where they found this woman. On their own? Via a nanny agency? We need more details before we can form our opinions on this....
