| I am a nanny for one toddler who will be starting part-time preschool soon. What do you all do when your charges are in pre-school if there is only one child? Do you stay at the house or go out? I will have to drive my charge to/from pre-school, but will have 2.5 hours of down time a couple days/week. |

Well if you are going to be paid your usual salary, I would offer to do some "light" housework such as laundry, ironing or even some dog-walking or vacuuming.
If you do not feel comfortable doing that, you can run some errands for the family. Offer to go to the Supermarket, buy toiletries at Target/WalMart/Costco, pick up medicine at the pharmacy, mail packages at the post office, return books at the library, take the car for an oil change or car wash, and/or drop off-/pick-up any dry cleaning. In any busy working household with a young child, trust me...There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done!!!!! |
| I used to just go home and chill, nap, run errands, watch tv, whatever. |
| When my charge started preschool Imy boss and I discussed what other things I could do. I took over the grocery shopping and washing the kids' sheets and towels. If everything was done I ran my own errands or hung out at the house. That was when they stopped napping so it evened out. |
