Are there agencies that will fill a position like this? It will be two or three full days a week for a couple of months only, and I don't have time to go the Care.com or Sittercity route.
As a follow-up, if an agency finds someone, what are the chances s/he will actually stay the whole time, vs. leaving midway through for a full time position? Does an agency protect me at all from having that happen? |
Hi! This job may be perfect for me depending on the start date. I am an experienced nanny looking for a part-time position. I will be returning to school at GW in the Fall to pursue my Master's. My classes will be on Thursday-Saturday; my availability is completely open Monday- Wednesday and it's also open starting in July. I look forward to meeting with you to determine if I am a good fit for your family and if your family is a great fit for me as well. Thanks!

Hi my name is Laura please call me at 540-479-9415. Im interested in speaking with you. Thank you I look forward to speaking to you soon. |
OP, there are agencies that do what you need - though they can't guarantee that you'll get the same person everytime.
I use MetroParentRelief.com (Stacey is the owner) and they've been great for short-term, emergency care etc... If the agreed upon person cancels at the last minute they will find a replacement. It can be a little chaotic to always have people coming and going that you may not know well, but I've had great luck w/ the people they've sent when we've had to use them. |
Thank you everyone. I didn't know the days before, but it will be Thursdays and Fridays through July.
Thank you to those individuals who listed their information, but I just don't have the time to do my due diligence this time; I'm going to need to go through an agency and trust them to do some of the background checking. |
Bummer. I'm the grad student who is available PT and Thursdays and Fridays through July would be perfect for me. |
In the normal course of things I would have jumped at hiring you! I was just blindsided by our full time nanny having to reduce to part time, and literally have no time to interview. I'm sure you'll find something! |
Oh, I am going through MetroParentRelief.com. It sounds like she places people into these kinds of positions, so maybe give her a call. |
Thank you. It has been hard to find a family to work on a Thursday/Friday schedule. |
I think it is smart to go through an agency vs. contacting someone through an anonymous forum such as this.
No offense to the people who posted, but it is just too risky. Especially considering some of the stuff that is written on here. |

Sadly, I agree. I'm an MB with a fantastic nanny I found through our neighborhood listserv, long before I knew DCUM existed. If I had to rehire I'd now be worried about hiring someone who is active here. |
I have to agree with both of these, unfortunately. |
