| I have recently been advised by a number of orthodontists and oral surgeons that I need full braces (including rubber bands) on both my top and bottom teeth for at least two years, followed by retainers, etc. My question is: should I tell my employers before I get them on? I am thinking about starting treatment in a few months. I’m concerned that my employers might somehow be distracted and/or put off by braces. I already look super young for my age and braces will make it even worse. Have you ever come across a nanny with braces and, in all honesty, did it affect your perception of her and/or her performance? |
You are so dummmmmmmmmmm. |

MB here
Please don't over think this. Any boss who would think less of you or whose perception of you would change over braces is NOT someone you want to work for. I'd tell them in advance, only because if you were my children's nanny I would make you a little basket of some yummy softer foods because when I first got braces, it hurt for a little bit. |
| My only concern would be how much time off you would be taking off of work for various appointments. |
+1 I would not want you caring for children, but not because of braces. |
| I'd probably mention it ahead of time. It would be weird to just show up one day with a mouth full of wires and rubber bands. Also, your mouth is going to be super sore for a few days. You might consider taking a day or two off immediately following the braces being put on. |
hmm well then why? |
Because OP clearly lacks any critical thinking skills if she has to come to the internet to ask if she should tell her boss she's getting braces.... it's ridiculous. |
You misspelled "dumb". Oh the irony... |

This would be a non-issue unless of course, you will need to take a few days off for dental appointments or recovery.
I have never had braces so I do not know what is involved. If not, then she will not care about your appearance. |
| I don't care how you look other than clean and respectably dressed. I care how you behave and perform your job. |
