Taking sitter (not nanny) on family outings

| We would like to take our sitter with us to Kings Dominion next month and to the Baltimore Aquarium. She sits for us for our date nights and social outings. Do we pay her a flate rate or her $13/hr rate. TIA |

| how old is she? I'd ask her what she prefers. Or you can say "We'd like for you to come w/ us, help us with XYZ, and we'll pay you $X" and let her say yes or no. |

Tell her exactly what you'd like (your somewhat detailed job offer) and ask her to let you know in a day or two if she is interested and what she would charge. As a sitter she is an independent contractor and should tell you her rates rather than you making an offer (as one might do with a long-term nanny). |

OP stated that she pays $13 per hour and asked if she should go with that usual rate or should offer a different flat rate for a full day outing. Might want to work on that reading comprehension thing dummy! OP, I agree that it depends on the age and experience level of the sitter. If this is a high school kid, then offering a flat rate would probably be fine. If it is an adult who is a professional nanny otherwise but is just a sitter for you, then she probably already has a rate that she charges for things like this and you should just ask. |

| OP here, our sitter is 19 and goes to one of those "commercial schools" during the day. Her admission and lunch will be paid for. |

. I'm a nanny and enjoy amusement parks. If you said hey I'll pay you $100 plus meals and admission to go to Super Fun Amusement Park andhelp with xyz tasks, iI'd say sure. My price as a 19yr old would have been much lower. |

| I think it depends on how you plan on using the sitter. If she'll be spending the day caring for a child that's too young to go on most rides while you take older children on them, then I think you need to pay her hourly rate. If she's more there to be an extra pair of hands/eyes, and will be able to go on most of the rides herself, then I think you're fine with a lower flat rate. |
