I have an amazing family I work for, just 1 little girl who is 2. My MB asked if I would be intetested in watching a good friends 2 year old once a week so she can run errands. They are both good kids and play well together so immediately agreed. She asked what I would charge? It wouldn't be more than 2/3 hours? Any input would be appreciated! I would not expect to charge $15 an hour also but wasn't sure how to go about this. Thanks

I did this with a family before. I charged $7 because originally I said $5, MB said I should do $10, I said that was too much and we settled on $7. MB said she didn't want me to feel like I was being taken advantage of at $5.

That MB deserves to be MB of the year. She respected you and your work and said you should be compensated accordingly.

Over in the Jobs and Career forum, if anyone reported they turned down super pay, they'd be endlessly laughed at. You must know that don't you? Don't you value your worth, at least as much as your former employer?

I'd charge 10/hr, just PPs former MB advised. If the parents are poor, and can't afford that, there's a different issue.

There are reasons that I wanted to charge so little that I don't want to discuss here because someone may recognize the situation. Let's just say the other mom desperately needed a break but also had circumstances that prevented her from hiring her own babysitter.

It's once a week for two-three hours? At least $10/hr

It really depends on where you live at.
