IM moving back home in a month. How do I secure a nanny position without physically being there to do interviews? Im on care.com ,sitter city etc. but wouldn't parents be worried for potential scamming etc.? If you have done this as a nanny please share how

Also skype can be a good tool. And see if you can make a trip home before you move so that you could be available for an inperson interview at some point.

I would never hire someone without meeting them in person, but I would certainly understand someone relocating who could only be available on a couple of specific days to meet us.

+1 on using Skype. I nannied through college (graduated last year, so this is recent), and was frequently trying to find jobs in my college town while I was still at home and vice versa.

I actually found that a lot of families were actually willing to make a decision after just a Skype interview. This may have been more unique to the dc area, as a lot of these families were military/traveled a lot for work and were very used to having to make important decisions from afar. In any case, requesting a Skype interview before having to travel far for an in person one is a very reasonable request.

If you can, I also always tried to give references from both locations, I felt like it showed i still had strong ties to the area, and knew how things worked locally.

It's only a month. I'd email and do phone interviews for now and meet them once you move.

The references from both locations PP suggested is a really smart idea.
