money.
She owes me about $750 and keeps saying that she is having financial trouble. I told her that was fine and that I needed to be paid by 2/12. She agreed to that date. Currently she still has not paid me. She will not keep the communication line open and talk to me when I email and call. On the 12th, she said she needed another day to "find the funds". Again, I agreed. Since then she has not communicated with me about what her plans are or when she will pay. We are in the South, and have had a few snow days but I don't think she has suddenly "forgotten" that I have worked. This was supposed to be my last pay since she and DB are putting their DD into daycare. |
have a formal letter sent explaining if they dont pay the end of the month you will be taking them to small claims court. |
| They aren't planning on paying you. You need to document everything. Do you have an email acknowledging the hours you worked and the amount you are owed? If not, get one. Then, I agree with PP, that you need to give an ultimatum for when you expect to be paid. Good luck! |
| Unfortunately it doesn't look like they will be paying you. You need to let them know you intend to take them to court for unpaid wages, if not given by a certain time frame. Their financial issues are not your problem and frankly, they shouldn't have hired a nanny if they couldn't afford one. You have to play hardball in order to get your money. Document everything you have and start searching for lawyers. |
| You're working for free. Can you afford that? Another nanny taken advantage of. |
| Small claims court. Tomorrow. |
Eh at least it sounds like her job is over so she doesn't have to worry about it in the future. That said, write the letter, give them a pay by date, and if they don't pay, take them to court. |

Wow op. Sorry to tell you but she isn't going to pay you. NEVER let a debt reach $750. You should've stopped before reaching even $100.
If you want your money you're going to need to go to small claims court and fill out paperwork to get it because I promise you, this women isn't going to cough up the money without the law getting involved. |
$750 could very easily be a single paycheck. |
| Tell her you won't be coming to work until you receive your money. |
This. If you document everything, send her a formal letter with a deadline before taking it to small claims court, and have retained a lawyer you'll have your money. Won't even need to go to court. Unless she thinks you're bluffing - so DONT BE. Make sure you do have a lawyer for this. So sorry OP. |
