Hi everybody!
Nanny here asking for help ! I have over 8 years of experience with newborns, toddlers , I'm legal to work in the US, I drive etc., I just found a wonderful family that have a beautiful baby boy (2. Months) 13.65 for the firts 40 hours per week 20.45 overtime (10 hours) 50 hours per week in total 3 weeks paid vacation All federal holiday and 5 sick days Laundry, cooking all related to the baby! Any thoughts? |
13.65/hr??? They're crazy! |
$13 an hour seems low for a new born for someone with 8 years experience. If you can live on that comfortably and it seems like a good fit then go for it but that is definitely on the low end of pay. |
That's $15/hr average rate or $750/wk. Certainly low average for many locations but not crazy low. |
That's a $15/hr average rate. Pretty typical in this area for one child. I would start a little higher myself, but this is not a bad deal. |
For 40h the weekly rate should at least be $800
10h more I would be surprised if anyone would do it for less than a $1000 New born would be more expensive Find another family |
Oh, good grief, 11:44. I can't imagine you are an MB in DC area. $20/hr is very high for one child in this area. Especially considering the generous vacation time and no housekeeping.
$15-16/hr average rate is very good for that job. |
I think that is a fair rate for the area, one baby who sleeps half the time and lots of vacation. If you like the family, take it. |
Op here ! Well I asked the family for $15 per hour and they agree!! I think I'm going to take the job! After a year they will give me a raise! Wish me luck! |
Too low. |
Sounds like a very normal, reasonable offer for the area ($15/hr average rate, appropriately broken out to reflect a base rate and an overtime rate).
It sounds to me like they're trying to do it right OP. Hopefully you'll be happy in the position, and they with you, and there will be room for growth in the compensation. Congrats. |
are these rates gross or net? thx |
Gross. Always work in gross rates. You cannot know another individual's tax situation so you don't want to be negotiating in net terms. |
