This workshop will discuss how nannies and parents can be on the same page when it comes to issues with the children and the job. Debra Dennis, Healthy Nannies 4 Healthy Kids / Indigo Lifestyle Solutions will discuss with us the relation between food and food allergies, behavior and learning in children. Food, Mood and Behavior All children behave in a less than desirable manner every now and then. It's normal for children to act up when they can't have their favorite toy or when they just need a nap. However, if behavioral problems disrupt both classroom and home time and the child you care for just seems all-around miserable, it may be time to look into the hidden cause of behavioral problems. This presentation will help you demystify the common foods that trigger mood and behavioral challenges in children. You will walk away with knowledge and tools to support you in making a sustainable difference in these children’s lives, yours and those around them. Additional speaker and topic to be announced. ADCAN is proud to support The Reading Connection. Attendees can bring books to donate to the children of The Reading Connection. |
Where is this located? It says in McLean, where in McLean ?
Why does every ADCAN event take place in Virginia??? Its supposed to be a DC area group, SOME of the events should take place there, and split the difference for those of us in MD.

I really want to go to this. Any other nannies planning on going ?
I am planning to go!
I am planning on going! I need to renew my membership.
Has anyone else signed up for this? Is this something I could ask my boss to pay for?
I signed up to go. I wouldn't ask an employer to pay.
Considering attending ... any adcan members? what included in being a member? is it worth it?
Hi nannies! We are first time parents with a new, wonderful but relatively inexperienced nanny. I saw this post and thought it might be a great resource for her, but I wanted to run it by other nannies to see if I am way off base. Would it be offensive or off-putting to bring this up as an interesting opportunity I came accross for her? I would pay her attendance fee, gas/mileage and also her hourly rate for her time spent at the conference. I truly think it might be a helpful conference for her, but do not want her to feel like she is obligated to go. If your MB brought this up in a friendly, casual manner and just said "We would be happy to pay if you are interested in it for your career development, but if you'd rather not or if you're not available, no worries!" would you feel somehow like you were being told you needed to shape up? She doesnt; she is just young, inexperienced, and we can all use career development. What do people think?
I would LOVE if my employers brought this up to me! Just tell her you value her career choice and believe professional development is just as important for nannies as any other field.
+1 I would also LOVE if my employer brought this up to me

Ditto. You sound like a great boss! |
