Where can you find out if it's illegal to spank your child?

I saw commentary on another post about it being legal to spank on the rush but not anywhere else. Where do you find this information? I live in another state. We spank on the butt. My parents did the same but my mom did slap me once. I deserved it though. I got the message.

OP are you a MB? I feel like if you are a parent then the directive you take is your choice, considering you are following the law. But I am a nanny and I WOULD NEVER EVER spank a child that is under my care, regardless of being legal or illegal on my state.

In most states "spanking" is legal as long as the parent or caregiver does not use" excessive corporal punishment"
Many go by A practical guideline to use is that any inflicted injury which lasts more than 24 hours constitutes significant injury and requires an investigation

I don't know about the caregiver. You'd better check your local laws, or you could go to jail (for good reason).
