Quick idea for gift to accompany bonus? RSS feed

We are having a holiday celebration tonight to coincide with Hanukkah. We are giving our nanny a great cash bonus and a pretty card, but I just realized it would also be nice to include something small as a physical gift. (My kids also bought her something small with their own money.) Nannies, especially those in your 20's, what small (easily purchased on the way home) token would you enjoy?

Starbucks or target gift card, chocolates, wine...

Wine, coffee, coffee mug, water bottle, nail polish (especially good stuff like OPI).

I second these suggestions.

Christmas ornament, nice sweets, cute necklace/earrings/similar...

OP here - thanks for all of the ideas! Glad to hear it can be something small like the above. I think the main thing is the $$, but it was feeling a little sparse. This I can do!

Happy holidays to everyone.

Same to you OP! The overall gift sounds great, and the gifts picked out by the kids will be much appreciated!

I like to give a beautiful frame (don't put your kids' photo in it), something warm (lovely throw, flannel sheets or gloves, or a high end coffee/tea/hot chocolate gift set.

Mbs like you really make me want to pursue being a nanny in the future! Last Christmas I spent $50+ on my charges and Mb and got a $20 gift card in return... Guess I learned me lesson.

OP here - gifts given and well-received! My kids gave her special "bed" socks and a wristlet purse. We gave the bonus with a heartfelt card (two weeks pay -- she's been with us about 6 months), plus a little bag filled with a $15 SBX gift card, $25 iTunes gift card, four packs of her favorite gum and three funky nail polishes (including one "fuzzy" and one "cracked" finish). She was a little weepy and seems really happy!

I've received bath gels, fuzzy slippers, and (because I'm an artist) a set of artist graphite pencils...You sound like a great and grateful mother...Kudos to you!

I'm impressed you know what her favorite gum is -- I don't think I even know what my favorite kind of gum is!
Sounds like a great gift. I'm sure she appreciates it a lot.
